RE: Homunculus assit in MVP - Seth~ - 05-04-2010 11:14 AM

Aaronock I am a master of reseting only when there is a mob will I use my pitcher.

Corporal if he don't attack Anubis would be on me all the time.

azurerogue agree. I was crazy to choose a amistr, now I must suffer until Seth- can take over from Light-, and that is only when Seth gets to 99/70.

Amistr is a kinda a loss. At least I don't die that often for some mysterious reason.

RE: Homunculus assit in MVP - Corporal - 05-04-2010 11:50 AM

Castling lets that happen.

Although Amistr might be the weaker link, in terms of sheer tanking, it's the best homunc. No other homun can actually tank as much as it can, and it's in that aspect where it shines.

Unfortunately Corporal is also right, but its only physical attack that its good at. Castling helps to. Its not that good however in MDEF.

But as azurerogue have pointed out, I am probably weaker and limited in my solo options for MVPing.

Amistr (top 5% stats + best evolution) would look like this:
HP: 10840
DEF: 33 / 53 / 63 (normal / adamantium skin / +bulwark)
MDEF: 16
Flee: 204

Vanilmirth (top 5% stats + best evolution) would look like this:
HP: 9449
DEF: 37
MDEF: 37 / 38
Flee: 242

Vanilmirth has higher unbuffed DEF, and it also soars above Amistr when it comes to magic tanking. It's HP is not significantly lower so it can take almost as many hits. It can also mob a bunch of fun maps (like Abbey2 - with the slaughters) nearly infinitely since homunculus flee is not reduced by mob size. I'd always take vanilmirth over Amistr. For others it comes down to preference, but every homunc can out-DPS Amistr - and most can come close to tanking it. 63 DEF looks nice on paper, but it will get owned by magic, defense-bypassing attacks, etc etc.

My current Amistr stats at lv 99 is like so.

Def 167.
MDef 16.
Flee 194.
aspd 162.
Hp 11547.

Looks like I got the Vit version, lol.

I'd always assume the buffs are in place. There's no reason to not use them, so that's not really valid. In terms of the tanking though, Amistr is able to tank the most (in terms of higher hit monsters). There aren't that many magic or defence-bypassing attacks from the low end MVPs creators do anyways. In that aspect, Amistr will be the best.

RE: Homunculus assit in MVP - azurerogue - 05-04-2010 08:14 PM

Actually, if we're solely talking about low-end MVPs, Vanilmirth/Filir will be the best. My old Vanilmirth could 90% flee (or better) the following MVPs:

Amon Ra
Atroce
Dracula
Drake
Eddga
Garm
Golden Thief Bug
Kublin
Maya
Maya Purple (not an MVP, I know)
Mistress
Moonlight Flower
Osiris

That means that my Vanilmirth could take an average of 10 (sometimes 20 - for those that it had 95% flee on) attacks per actual hit. Your average Amistr might 50% flee them, if it got really good AGI. Taking almost half as much damage per hit than my Vanilmirth, but getting hit 5 to 10 times as often does NOT seem like a good trade to me.

And, anyways, Lif is better than both of them for low end MVPs since most of the low end MVPs die to AD so fast that you might as well just emergency avoid, rest, spawn, mental change, and kill it before the Lif dies.

In all honesty, if I were to lose my sheep, I would probably not make another. Most likely, I would pick filir and abuse the flee. To me, the arguments about homun's damage-dealing capability is a reflection solely on time to grind it to 99. Because I'm not a sissy wimp who thinks fireblend is an alchemist's best damage.

But on the subject of raw tanking power, how much hard mdef do vani and lif get? I know their listed "mdef" stat is large, but that includes soft mdef from int. I totally haven't done any research with them.
