Correcting quest EXP. - Tezuka - 08-06-2009 08:26 AM

Not talking about custom quests, but the normal RO quests, like eye of hellion, kiel and so on.

Right now the exp multiplicator for them is 1x, same as on iRO, which makes the quests totally utterly useless, 'cause grinding on mobs is alot faster.

Fix please? It's a quick and easy change and it would questing actually make worthwhile again.

Edit: Pistis mentioned in her thread (..don't ask why we talked about my suggestion there) that it's intricate to do and that's why it's not added.

It's not at all! Starting at revision 11171 of eAthena there's a config option called "quest_exp_rate" to adjust exp gained by the getexp script command. It's a 5 minute thing !

Well, I can't read the whole thread right now 'cause i'm in a hurry, but the main complaint was that it was easy to get alot of exp? I can't really follow your calculations in that thread to be honest.

Let's say I do the eye of hellion quest, which yields 1m or 1,2m depending on if you kill hellion at level 70. 1 million exp at level 70 is roughly 70% base exp.
5 million exp wouldn't even take you to level 75..And there aren't alot of quests that yield that much exp anyway..So I really can't see the problem.
Most quests yield exp based on base level anyway.

Btw, I'm not fixated on the 5x rates, even tho I still think it's not too much at all ?.o

Enlighten me, where is the problem?Icon_biggrin I'll be back in a few hours <3

The thread was pretty much J against, and everyone else for it. =P

Back for a short time:

Well to be honest I can't see any reason in leaving them be as they are now. They're, like I said, a total waste of time. And in the other thread J calculated something like 33 mil exp..I'd really like to hear how you got those numbers btw, J!

The highest base exp for a quest in RO is as far as I know like 2 millions..kiel quest. So that'd make 10 mils at 5x rate..that's not even 70-80.

anyway, off I go again XD

Quest Exp is boosted to 2x in new svn, as mentioned by Pandora in the previous thread of this topic.

I've played on servers with an adjusted quest exp rate before and it was fine, so it definetly works.

Well 2x is better than nothing, so I'm happy! sorry for not reading the other thread completely.
