I'm talking here more about class composition rather than "who" gets to be on your team - that aspect just goes to show who've done their homework and who still needs to do a bit more training.

it might not be easy to script, but class-identifying scripts are quite often used in quests, so it shouldn't have be to scripted from scratch.

I know this isn't a top priority issue, but imho the benefits are huge: better team distribution will allow people to actually learn how to play their classes better rather than just get facerolled or get a faceroll win without actually doing anything. Even if the notorious "pros" all get on the same team, at least the newbies can still see how the pros acted in respect to their team comp and perhaps that will help them up their game.

I have a solution for you, tell them to go pvp and learn. BG is business and I don't think people go here to learn but getting points and free exp.
I like random pick as it is currently.

I like this suggestion. Not for the fact that it helps noobies but Ive been on the receiving end of both having 5 SL's on a team, 5Hp's on a team and also having 5 killers on a team, so i think this is a good idea as it will get rid of the 5 HP teams or 5 killer teams :>

RE: BG team imbalances - Aaronock - 09-15-2011 07:45 AM

It is bullcrap when 2 Sinx show up and both teams don't get one Sinx.
You sometimes do get some teams that are just not able to kill anyone due to the "randomness" screwing you over and not giving you a WS, Sinx, Champ, or Creator, and the other team winds up with all 4. Icon_sad

Just wondering, how would this work? Will classes be grouped into 'killer' and 'support' and then each team will be distributed as evenly as possible?

Doesn't sound like a bad idea if it works like that, but I still like the randomness at the moment. Other than ridiculous scenarios of 5 HPs vs 5 killers, usually even slightly unbalanced teams can turn out unexpectedly depending on who the players of each class are. And IMO, it's pretty damn exhilarating sometimes to win when you're on the clear underdog team. But that's just me.

Oh those poor teams that have to team up with my baby rogue... lol

RE: BG team imbalances - Aaronock - 09-15-2011 03:58 PM

I think the main things to check for is if there are multiples of a class that at least one would go to each team. :x

IMO just let it stay randomized. I know as a Killer, I love to steamroll. It's way cheaper than an even fight. Why Should noob supports who only ever play support get to have a way better chance of winning???If there is 5 hps on one team... sucks for them Icon_razz Maybe they shouldnt have HP'd when they saw 4 others there Icon_smile

Wow... people are really retarded... Anyway, I'm in favor of teams having a not that random randomization, to give at least slight chance for a fight. Having the teams to have at least two slots for a killer and a support and the rest totally random, so you'll always have one of each in a team.

again, it's not about the "who" as much as it's about the "what"...

+1 Aaron

@peanut, i dunno if we can assign additional flags like that. Even if it did, it would probably be to bothersome to code.
What i'm referring to is to basic class-flag-readers (ever-present in job npcs and several official quests) and assigning them evenly. Sure if there's only one WS and one SinX there would still be a possibility that they would both be on the same team, but at least the 4 HPs will be split into 2 and 2, making it a bit more "challenging" so to speak.
Again, we can probably do what you're thinking, but that would really be a much longer script than what i'm suggesting.
I agree that it CAN be interesting, but just now i aced a hp-clown-pally vs a 2champ-hp team. Had the champs been distributed evenly, it would probably be a more challenging fight for both parties because 1 will have bragi while the other has devo. This way the champs will gain experience in fighting their own class as well as other classes and other scenarios rather than just trying to faceroll a priest with SW.

@proto trololololol... meh most of the times i BG there's only 1-2 hps and 1-2 clowns as well as 1-2 SLs. If they were distributed evenly, it would definitely be so much better.
