Open Source Card Game Project - Aaronock - 04-24-2009 11:13 AM

My boyfriend (some of you knew him as Miss Kittypuff), who rarely plays here anymore and is not much a forum goer so he wanted me to type this for him.??I hope I am putting this in the right section, I really wasn't sure where to put a topic like this o.o

My boyfriend will make a guide on how to make and play the cardgame.
You can then make cards for this card game.??A quote by him too for the game works as such.

My Awesome Boyfriend Wrote:If they approve the idea or rather have a more controlled approval process for cards
the game would still be make and print as you want
but only select cards would get approved for legit play

So I guess he wants to figure out an aproval system and would like to also see if there would be interest in such a project at all. Also if there is interest for tournament play of sorts *like if friends were doing it or something* he would probably post limitations to certain cards and things. Also I will say thank you ahead of time for any interest shown, as my boyfriend is very passionate about game making in general ;D

I do a lot of hypothetical work on game making (card games, table top, and computer). It's lead me through a series of odd reading experiences and taught me a lot of interesting ways to write scripts for console/computer games. I'd be more than happy to get it on this at some level (not sure how far I'd go, I'll be getting ready to move here in a month or so). But, yea, sounds fun.

So would you rather have an open sourced card game that is fully open for card creation or more controlled card creation? Controlled being it must be approved as fair and such. :3

<= is interested in any card game really if it's free to play

I'd have to say controlled. It gets pretty crazy with open card creation. Last time I did it, I made myself a card that was infinitly powerful and would always let me win. I ended up removing it from play just so other people would challenge me.

There would probably be some sort of regulations on cards allowed. There would be sets that would be made and posted for printing or whatever. This would mean cards that are legal. Cards would be made and approved probably of course to prevent "I win" type of cards.

We're also considering a system to make sure you can only play so many copies of cards of course. We're thinking more "common" or "basic" cards being allowed at 4, some being allowed at 3 cards, some allowed at 2, and the super cards being limited at 1.

The would still be free to print, but we are leaning toward a regulation system like Aaronock said. Point Value totals for decks and also a restriction based on card rarity.
New cards people propose would be voted on their fairness and uniqueness.

Thanks for all of your opinions everyone, please feel free to discuss more. :D

Also yes, my avatar is Tsukamoto Yakumo lol.

This sounds like Fight Klub (card game).

The project is still under work, but my bf has a preview page he told me I could share with you all :D

'Course you probably don't know what most of this means yet, but it at least gives you an idea of what cards will look like and perhaps do.

-Small Edit: These are not the actual size of the cards, they have been scaled down slightly ;o
-Second Edit: BF gave me a second page of work he's done like 10 seconds after I posted this post >_>
