The Seer's Dilemma ~ Emancipation

Tragedy struck the Kaldheim region of Lutia tonight, after a siege by the Light Allegiance on an old military outpost occupied by the Dark Allegiance. The goal of the light side was to stop Vynn from finding in his dreams the answers to his cataclysmic vision that has been the center of controversy for some time now.

Thea was defeated, but would not give up. She pleaded to Melot not to tamper with fate, but was ultimately knocked out by Tiamat, who had just arrived to announce Vynn woke up. However, something was not right with him. It was then that Melot gave all light siders in the room a choice: Join the others to witness what Vynn had to say, or leave in peace.

Both Allegiances walked up the tower to Vynn's Room, lead by Melot and Tiamat, who held on to a handcuffed Thea. The rest of the two allegiances' council members were not present. The soul linker was slow to talk and reportedly had a grim, almost haunted expression to him.

After repeated questioning of what his 3-day-long dream visions were like, he finally spoke. Vynn mumbled on about slipping past the abyss of night, through gateways of slumber, and living lives without number, mentioning journeying through the Ginnungagap and past "Hesperida", and to the Yggdrasil. He claimed to have seen the beginning of our world, and how we all got to where we are, stating "I have seen the strings pulled and the end of our world, and the part I have played in it."

Vynn refused to share what he saw, claiming Thea was right about the dangers of his powers, to some extent. He insisted the future cannot be changed if everyone knows of it, mentioning his only hope was that with his end, the future he feared for does not come to pass. This quickly alarmed everyone, and some even attempted to grab him, but Vynn slipped by, running toward a window and jumping out, falling several stories and hitting the roof below.

Melot, Tiamat and even Thea herself ran down the stairs of the tower as fast as possible and went out to the roof of the first floor, but they could not resurrect him. Did they take too long, or was the damage to Vynn's body was too severe? Sources say it was likely both.

Vynn's friends Wes and Lianne, who were not in Lutia at the time for their own protection, were heartbroken at the news, and during an interview with The Midgard Times spoke out against both allegiances, as well as the media and the public in general.

"Vynn lived humbly in Schwartzvald. He helped the townsfolk, sometimes he just accepted fruit or lunch from customers who could not afford to pay his visions. Then everyone else learned he could be useful to their own goals." Wes told us, wiping tears from his face.

"The only thing on everyone's mind was how Vynn could do this or that for them, or how he had to push his mind and body over a cataclysm that could happen anyway if he was unable to help!" Lianne cried out. "Did anyone beside us ever genuinely ask him how he was doing!?"

Sources indicate Vynn left everything in his name to his friends Wes and Lianne. , They held a private burial for him, where only family and a handful of old friends and clients were present. They have also allegedly cut all ties with the Dark Allegiance, and moved from Hugel.

While the Light and Dark Allegiances have seemingly returned to their normal routine, many on the inside are dissatisfied with the handling of Vynn's powers. Some believe they should have better taken care of him, while others have anonymously told us they didn't believe resorting to violence was necessary to begin with. A small group, however, believe their respective allegiances weren't harsh enough on him or the opposing allegiance.

What did the average citizen have to say regarding the whole ordeal, though? Most of the people we talked to at Prontera's town square claimed the fighting between allegiances was wholly unnecessary. One even brought up an interesting point. This is the second instance in recent years, of an individual in an enlightened state of consciousness making mention of strings being pulled. However, many people had already forgotten about Vynn and his situation since our first few "Curious Notes" sections.

We can only hope that after all that happened in the past months, the allegiances and those that did keep up with the news can better understand the fragility of the mind, and life itself. For now though, it seems that, except for those close to Vynn, life returns to normal.

Tiamat arrived at her home in Rachel. She walked over to the bedroom, and as expected, Ciar was sleeping like a rock.

Even though it had been three days since Vynn's passing, Tiamat somehow couldn't bring herself to reading what he frantically wrote for her the day of his death, just before she left to announce he was awake. But it had to be done eventually, so might as well do it now that she is alone, like he requested.

Tiamat pulled the crumbled papers from her pocket and walked over to her study to read it all. Tears filled her eyes upon learning the truth. She knew what was to come one day, but not if such thing could be stopped. Part of the whole controversy was about it. But even if it could be stopped, she doesn't know how.

After some consideration, Tiamat grabbed a blank piece of paper, and began writing. She head back to her bedroom and placed the letter on the nightstand next to Ciar, leaving with it her Dark Allegiance Council identification.

Hours of searching the Light Allegiance's vaults all by himself in the middle of the night, Nereus finally found what he was looking for. The only thing he figured the stolen blueprints from Selene would work with.

A triumphantly smiling Nereus took out a large, sealed binder from the archive, with a variety of warning labels all over it. He tore all the seals and opened it, revealing the name of the file.

"The Nemesis Protocol"

Thanks to all players that were part of the last few events as well as the overall story! I think this might be the first chronicles storyline without a happy ending, or at least the first one that I've hosted. :P

Screenshots from all three events can be found below. If you or a friend recorded the event, post it here too! And as always, feedback on the story, the events and the handling of them is greatly appreciated, in order to improve the ones that will follow.
