Bathory Armor?

Excuse my super noob questions but why exactly is a Bathory card so good?

At first I thought it was because shadow element reduced neutral damage and since most monsters deal neutral damage with their attacks, Bathory armor would reduce damage significantly.

As it turns out, ghost element reduces neutral damage, not shadow.

So I'm left wondering why shadow armor is such a big deal...

I assume the Evil Druid card is good for similar reasons. I'm not just getting the reason.

Bathory Card negates damage taken from Dark Soul Strike (Matk used by ever so popular Banshees and Anubis)

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, it helps prevents damage from Dark Breath and some other skill.

Evil Druid and Bathory are indeed good for the same reasons. The downside to ED is that you cannot be healed by the Heal skill or resurrected by Resurrection or Yggdrasil Leaves while wearing it. Bathory does not have those restrictions.

Bathory armour negates my second most hated monster skill:

- Change Undead (Nidhoggur Dungeon, Odin2, Odin3, half of New World) - you will not suffer the horrible 'green' status in which you cannot be healed / blessed / agi'd / resurrected and you lose bless and agi buffs.

From less common skills it also negates Dark Grand Cross (Retribution, Valk Incarnation in Gorge).

So Bathory is used to counteract specific skills... interesting...

Since ghost element armor reduces neutral attacks to 25%, I assume Ghostring cards are worth a ridiculous amount of money?

Yes, indeed they are worth a ridiculous amount of zenny ^_^

Add in the fact that there is only one that spawns and everyone that sees it kills it, its not an easy mob to consistantly kill without alot of dedication.

Ghostring does not work on regular monster attacks in PvM.
However its use in PvM is to counter big scary moves like Earthquake, you can pretty much tank any EQ in the game with GR and an alice shield.

In WoE its to lessen damage from Acid Demo, Matyr's Reckoning (sacrifice), Asura, and uhhhh other dummies using neutral attacks when elemental options are available to you.

GR is worth a lot since it is very useful, and you can't pop them open from OCA's anymore. :D

Depends what you mean, I guess. With enough players on screen that's true. If you're talking "pure tank" you'd need a lot more than that. Ifrit's Powered Up EQ will still hit an Alice/GR player for 15-19k with 4 players on screen. Satan Morroc's will still hit for 17k with 5 players on screen.
