Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

The Sun was at its peak in Prontera when Amdusias arrived. He was brought back to the city because he received a tip that Lucretia and Cynbel were west of the Capital. Apparently, the Rune-Midgard government was generous enough to send a group of adventurers to aid in the capturing of the fugitive fairies. Little did he know he was walking right into a trap.

As Amdusias walked through the fields, he was ambushed by the very people that lead the way. Acid was thrown, spells were cast, and fists were delivered. The fae dropped faster than most expected. After dragging his unconscious body to a secluded area, Pixie placed the Dreamstone Crown on Amdusias. The purple stone on the crown shined, and shot a light that opened a portal to the Fae's dreams.

Lucretia and the heroes traversed the maze of Amdusias' mind, fighting creatures from his own dreams and past experiences, while Cynbel, Pixie and several Prontera Guards kept an eye on the knocked-out fairy. After crossing the memory of Fae Hills, the group made it to the Faeheim Archipelago. Lucretia explained they all used to live there peacefully, until it was revealed they kept hidden a great treasure. She did not disclose what this treasure was, only that an Unknown Force recruited several creatures, such as Kublin, to take it. As if that wasn't enough, the humans also invaded Fairyland in search of this treasure. This was the cause of the destruction of the Fae's home.

A familiar sight greeted the group not long after: Sograt Desert, before being destroyed by Satan Morroc. Cynbel and Amdusias were sent to protect Morroc when the demon was resurrected long ago. There, Amdusias met a young man who had lost his friends during the cataclysm. He was a Golemancer, and offered to continue rebuilding the Guardian that protects Fairyland. It was originally up to Kiel Hyre to build the automaton, but he was too involved in other matters and didn't have enough time. Amdusias referred the man to Cynbel, who sent him to Pixie. After an outstanding demonstration of his machines, The Golemancer was hired.

Some trekking later, they came to a memory not even Lucretia remembered: The day Cynbel became War Chief of the Fae. Amdusias was incensed. He believed he wasn't chosen because he was originally a poor commoner, and Cynbel was Pixie and Lucretia's childhood friend. He questioned Lucretia, who denied his claims and walked off.

After exiting an area simply called "The Great Library", they wound up in a darkness-covered Prontera. Shadows and cursed spirits wandered about, while Niddhoggur flew overhead. The scene seemed to be not a dream or memory, although Amdusias and The Golemancer's voice were part of the latter. Amdusias deduced The Golemancer was the one that stole the Turtle General's eggs, drilled into Thor's Volcano and blew up part of the Rekenber building to steal ores for his machines. The Fairy threatened to reveal the human's identity if he didn't provide a batch of Golems for him. The human reluctantly agreed to provide automatons, and offered an explanation for his recent acts. His goal was to wipe out the Dark Allegiance completely by sparking a new war between both sides to return the Light Allegiance to its former glory.

To venture deeper into Amdusias' mind, Lucretia and the heroes broke seals that protected his darker secrets, such as being responsible for Surtur's second escape several weeks ago. The fae framed Lucretia for it, since she had already released the fire giant once.

Nearing the final seal protecting his darkest secret, Amdusias started to become aware of what was going on, and tried to take down the heroes by thinking of fierce creatures and having them attack. The heroes overcame all that Amdusias threw at them, and finally entered the memory of Lucretia's wings.

Amdusias wanted to become War Chief at whatever the cost, so he took the opportunity that Lucretia denied Cynbel's advances and argued with her human lover Jin to make his move. Past midnight, he entered Lucretia's room disguised as Cynbel. The power-hungry fae didn't expect Jin to be there, but thought fast and used knockout powder on him. He destroyed Lucretia's wings and made his escape.

Ultimately, his plan failed, as Lucretia blamed Jin for her wings instead and killed him. She ran away from Fairyland and her sister's disapproval, only to imprison Cynbel once certain "evidence" arose. With Cynbel out of the picture, Pixie named Amdusias the new War Chief.

The heroes exited Amdusias' mind just before he woke up. The enraged Fae escaped from Pixie, Cynbel and the Prontera Guards' grasp, warping back to Fairyland.

Pixie, Cynbel and Lucretia held a press conference this morning to explain all that happened. The former Queen revealed to the public that Amdusias turned her own people against her and forced her to run away and seek Asylum in Rune-Midgard. As for The Golemancer, the three fairies decided not to make comments on the matter or reveal his name, claiming it was part of the most recent contract signed with the man.

"We are bound by contract to keep his name and whereabouts secret. It would represent a threat to him and the kingdom, if those with evil intent against Fairyland were to hunt him down for intelligence on the kingdom's security systems." Pixie informed, shaking her head. Rumors swiftly went around that the overthrown queen fears The Golemancer would retaliate against Fairyland or side with Amdusias if the secret were revealed.

The three fairies refused to divulge their next move or answer other questions, and left the building in a rush as reporters chased after them. One hour later, a communication from Fairyland was sent to the governments and all news media throughout the Continent. Apparently, Amdusias' mind had suffered terrible damages due to the breaking of the seals. He delivered an ultimatum to Rune-Midgard, Schwartzvald, Arunafeltz and the rest of the nations.

"The recent alliance between Rune-Midgard and Lucretia's Group, and consequent attack against Supreme Authority of Fairyland is considered an act of war against Faeheim. But I, being a merciful lord, will disregard it at nothing more than common human foolishness, if Rune-Midgard acknowledges their wrongdoings and turns over Pixie, Lucretia and Cynbel to the Fairyland Authorities.

You have one week to hand over the criminals. Failure to comply with our simple plight will result in a full scale invasion of Rune-Midgard. Our forces will strike swift and deadly, with no mercy or discrimination of man, woman or child.

To the other nations, let this serve as both an example, and a clear warning: Do not support Rune-Midgard's foolishness or try to hide the fae criminals, or you shall suffer the same fate.

To the general public, enjoy the coming Fairy Auction. You shall be safe from harm then, but it will be the last auction if Rune-Midgard chooses to go down the path of destruction."

In a public announcement made this morning, King Ernst declared he would not hand over Lucretia, Pixie or Cynbel, and reminded Amdusias about Rune-Midgard's policies against Usurpation and Dictatorships. He ordered a large portion of the fleets of military warships to station along the border of Rune-Midgard and near the Moscovian sea, to "keep an eye" on the Fairies' sky city. The king also declared all citizens considered criminals for helping Lucretia would not be arrested or questioned.

As war looms over the horizon, King Ernst swore to protect the Kingdom, and asked for unity among the people of Rune-Midgard. To prevent unnecessary casualties and bloodshed, he advised residents and merchants of Prontera, Izlude, Payon, and Alberta to seek refuge in safer towns, such as Geffen or Aldebaran by the time of Amdusias' deadline.

We at The Midgard Times hope this conflict can be resolved in a way that leaves the least, or preferably no deaths. We will remain in Prontera during the deadline, covering important events as we have done for so long.

You Lightsiders, always manipulating fact.

The Dark Allegiance did NOT resurrect Satan Morroc. The seal placed on the demon by Thanatos weakened over time. We did, however, plan to make a deal with him, but found out the hard way he won't negotiate.

This whole fairy issue has gotten out of hand. They should just all be wiped out before they even attack. That'll teach them what's good for them!

As for this "Golemancer", the whole situation proves that our comrade Lord Matthew did not steal the turtle eggs. I demand he be released immediately, or I'll have my people release him for you!

She glared at the leader of the dark allegiance. "As if you are one to talk! It is common knowledge that the Dark Allegiance summoned Satan Morroc. It is listed in the archives at the Association even!" the paladin scoffed, patting her peco on the beak. "You still broke the seal, that is an undeniable fact! Sped up the natural process!" She climbed on the bird's back and took the reins before riding off.

RE: Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

Let me refresh your memory, silly girl.

Lady Hestia (in 2009) Wrote:The seal on the demon king, Satan Morroc, has weakened through time and the demon king has broke free from its cell below the city of Morroc, escaping into the Dimensional Gorge as it tries to regain its lost strength due to the ages. Such great powers of destruction must be eliminated to protect the year long history of prosperity brought to this world by the grace of Goddess Hestia with her holy laws and orders. The stability of the world must not be harmed because of this demon.

And...

The Great Sir Melot (in 2009) Wrote:The seal on the great demon, Satan Morroc has recently been weakened and destroyed. The city of Morroc is nothing but a mere crater, as the great demon escapes into the Dimensional Gorge in an effort to regain his lost strength over the years. The demon king is nothing but a mindless demolisher. Blind destruction will not aid in furthering the teachings of God Erebos, nor will it help us in liberating the people from the foolishness of Hestia's laws. Anyone who laid waste to the very land that will soon belong to Erebos is an enemy to the Scourge of the Dark Allegiance!

Rarely do we two agree.

After Satan Morroc's demise, there's not been much conflict between the two allegiances. But this Golemancer has framed one of our own, and we will not stand for this! If you can see this, Golem-lover, you better watch your back!

"I wasn't aware of this. At the time you cite this, I was barely literate enough to speak a sentence in English." She huffed.

RE: Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

A certain Minstrel does a street performance on a sidewalk in the city of Prontera. A Witch Hat on his head, a small yellow backpack that resembles the monster Drops on his back, and a Burning Passion Guitar is on his hands. He skillfully plays the guitar and sings more passionately as people start to make a crowd around him. At the same time, a Dark Paladin who rides on his trusty Grand Peco passes the crowd. He heard a part of the song as he rides the Grand Peco next to the crowd.

"Amdusias is waaaay too craaaaankyyyy~
Because he doesn't haaaaas a girrrlfrieeeeend~"

As he rides further and further away, the song can be heard no more.
"..."
(Sigh.. Bards nowadays are just raving lunatics..)
The Dark Paladin keeps the thought just for his own self.

Ezekiel shook his head. He then stood stiffly upright, made a stern face with a pout and began to do his best impression of Amdusias from the words he had recently spoken.

"But I, being a merciful lord, will disregard it at nothing more than common human foolishness..."

The rogue when finished just snickered. "Gods, all of this foolishness began with you and your selfish desires for power. You've manipulated not only Lucretia to lash out, but also spread vicious propaganda about humanity to other fae citizenry to maintain your control!"

There was more he could have said on the subject, but decided against it. In this case, less said more.

"In other words, the bloodshed of the past few months began with you! But do not worry, you will meet my blade, and when you do, death will follow with it. Best pray you receive a quick one."

RE: Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

The doors opened to reveal a dimly lit room, with flower decorations barely visible on the walls. A conference table stood in the center. What seemed to be a scholar entered slowly, confused by how he was being received this time around. He created a flame that hovered above his open hand, brightening up the room a tad more. A silhouette sat on the other side of the conference table.

"Amdusias?" The human scholar asked, recognizing the figure.

The shadowy winged figure replied with another question. "Have you brought the Golems?"

"They're on the courtyard." The professor answered, not moving an inch closer. "Any particular reason you're hiding in the dark?"

A sigh escaped the figure. "Lucretia and the human wretches tinkered with things they should not have. The light... It bothers my eyes now."

"I will pray to Hestia for you to get better..." The Golemancer muttered, nodding once, before speaking again. "At least they didn't find out my identity." He couldn't help but chuckle in relief.

"Do you really think you'll succeed with your insane plans? Humans are cunning and crafty. Even if they don't know your name, it's only a matter of time before someone makes a connection to you, and screams your name to the four winds." Amdusias said, as a response to The Golemancer's sense of security. "You're crazy, but also brilliant. That's the only reason I even talk to you. Because you can keep upgrading Fairyland's guardian."

The flame on the scholar's hand grew bigger and brighter. It was obviously bothering Amdusias' eyes now. "Think what you will, I've planned and plotted every move of my plan. There's no escaping what I've in store for those scourges." The Golemancer smiled faintly, and sinisterly. He reached for his pocket and took a purple stone out, along with a piece of paper. "Its properties and possible uses are written there."

"I don't feel like reading your ramblings. Just tell me if I can use it as a weapon or armor!" Amdusias snapped at The Golemancer.

"Your best bet is to have an armor be encrusted with it, or something." The professor replied, turning around to leave. "Leave some buildings intact for me to break in the future, will you?" He asked, smiling as he walked out of the room. "Especially Melot's Headquarters..."

RE: Chronicles of Fairyland ~ The Decisive Battle

"So, Alberta will burn once again," Murmured a brown-robed figure to her trusty bird. The pair had attended an outdoor briefing held by the trio of renegade fey, and was currently ranging far afield, biding the time until the decisive strike, "And the idiot kid, along with the rest of the Wingless, will have no choice but to intervene."

Cookie tilted his head back, blinking a wordless question at the rider.
"Of -course- we're getting involved, you silly bird. What with that crazy Procy coming out of the woodwork, who knows. We might even stand a fighting chance."
