New client [October 2015] Info & FAQ

heRO has a new client. Run your patcher if you haven't already. The patch is kinda big we know, lots of files involved.

Here are some neat new features:

• Iventory lock. Tired of throwing out items when you didn't mean to? Well no more!
• Navigation. Lost and don't know where some NPC is? Just use navigation and it'll lead you right to the man you're searching for! Also, this includes marks on mini-map that helps you find all needed NPCs faster.
• Don't know what that status you're under? Well no more! All statuses now have proper descriptions and timers on them.
• Chat window. Now you can open as many chats as you like!
• Party lock. Are you a priest? Then you'll love it!
• All the latest hats from kRO, iRO, jRO and many other official RO servers were implemented.
• Many other new features that'll let us impelement more events, quests, and other features with less limitations than before!
  

Q: I just logged to char select for the first time, why are all my headgears gone?
A: Don't worry, they are not gone. We just had to manually clean the looks of your characters since new official headgears were added and they took part of old headgears views. Just log on your character and re-equip your gear and it will show up as it should.

Q: I found a bug/new feature/annoyance, what do I do?
A: First of all, take a screenshot. Or two. You can even take a video, if you want. And then please either post it on forum in this thread or send a support ticket.

Q: Some gear doesn't have sprite. Fix it!
A: That's not a question... But still, please post the name of the item below and we'll try to fix it in the nearest patch. Thank you.

Q: This new client crashes every time I...
A: Please send in a support ticket with steps that you do before crash happens. We'll try to help you with all our limited powers.

Q: My antivirus says that your client has a virus! Are you trying to trick me?
A: No, we don't. Honest. We've run the client through the VirusTotal check, and most antiviruses found it harmless.

Q: Ok, I believe you. Are you sure you're not trying to trick me?
A: Well, we're trying to trick you into playing old-old game on an old-old server.

Q: When I run the client a bunch of weird windows pop up and it doesn't start!
A: Please take a screenshot of such window and send it in a support ticket. All systems are different, so it's hard to predict what might come up wrong.

Q: My old settings are gone! What do I do?
A: You probably have to set them up once again. This client uses lua files to save most settings instead of registry. But after you save them once they should always be there for you... Until we change client again. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Q: I have a suggestion! Why don't you do this to the client so something will be easier to achieve?
A: All suggestions are welcome, but please know that client-side editing is limited. We've tried to fix/adjust/implement as many things as we could, but even not all our wishes could be granted sadly.

Q: Oh! Oh! New client! Does that mean that ... will now be available?
A: Maybe. Probably. I'm still not sure though.

Q: Ooooh, what does this button do?
A: Press it and find out!

Q: It crashed me :(
A: See Q#4.

Q: I like/don't like/hate how ... can we go back to old client?
A: Not likely. Change takes time to get used to, but we believe this client is better. If most people dislike this new client there's a chance we switch back, but I wouldn't count on it.

Q: I get messages I don't want to get in my chat window. How do I turn them off?
A: There's a round icon in the upper-right corner of chat. Press it, and you can configure what messages are shown to you. Per example, damage dealt and received is "Battle Messages".

Q: I don't like that new window opens every time I get a PM. How do I change that?
A: It's easy! Take your socks off and throw them into the river... Just open Friends List (Alt+H by default shortcut), look for a magnifier glass icon ("Friend Setup") and uncheck all the options you don't want.

Q: How come I don't see any auras?
A: By default auras are in "simplified" mode, so you can only see the lights. Type "/aura" to change that.

Q: How do I delete character now? When I press the delete button it just sits down...
A: Now there's this feature. You "request" character deletion, and if you haven't changed your mind in a day you'll see "delete" button on that character. It'll still ask for your email to delete character, though. In the nearest future we'll disable the "95+ lvl characters can't be deleted" limitation in favor of this one. Please comment on the time before deletion can be made, it's still a discussion topic.

Q: I don't like new damage/heal font.
A: You can download this file (Thanks goes to Kiyochan for making it) and unpack it into "data" folder inside client folder.

Other stuff not thrilled about but could get used to but this is a dealbreaker for me

1. Custom haircut bugs

All these custom haircuts below has lost most of their colours and are now only available in two colours. Example; Haircut 78 is now only brown or pink.

Female haircuts: 78, 79, 81, 91, 92 and 95.
27 is missing some colours only.

Male haircuts: 50, 59, 66, 69, 71 and 72

-Only one colour is possible for every hairstyle once you finish browsing all custom hairstyle and go back to the first custom haircut. It's only possible to see the other colours once you cancel and browse through the couponless hair color palette.
-Picking the 'next color' option at female haircut 82 brings it back to haircut 81 while browsing custom haircuts. Same thing with female haircut 80 which returns us to haircut 79.

Note: I don't have access to any special haircuts so I'm unable to check them out; Noble's haircut etc.

And yes, I do care a lot about custom haircuts.

2. Crashes

Adventurer's Knife (the ones given out to new players) causes an error to everyone on the screen when equipped by Acolyte classes.

3. Descriptions about Matk

Most gears are showing renewal description but still applying old stats (I think). Mostly weapons which adds Matk.

4. V4P gears wrong sprite

-Samurai Mask (not a mask anymore, becomes a cute ribbon)
-Bone in Mouth (looks like a cloth tied onto the head)
-Nut Donut in Mouth (becomes a cute ribbon)
-Magical Booster (becomes a weird crystal hat)
-More to be added once found ;o

5. Switching to custom aura

Is there any tips in changing to custom auras? The game doesn't detect the custom aura in the effect folder anymore. Particle effects for aura still changeable though.

6. Homun crash

Attempting to summon your homun results in a crash. Once you crash, the character with the homun is unable to go online. The errors which occurred (for me; not sure about anyone else but they crash too when they try to summon homun) are

"cannot open ./AI_sakray/AI.lua: No such file or directory"
"attempt to call a nil value"

7. Character deletion

Mind telling how to delete a character? I missed a Taini event

So look like it's request delete and then wait 24 hours.

And if there is any way to change type of inflicted damage. Now it's too bold and cover whole mob.

For the AI error i havent found a solution, but it worked so it is a solution.

first make a backup of your AI folder.
save it on desktop or whatever away from the RO folder.
delete AI folder from RO.
download the attached file and extract on RO folder.

I took this files from the test server, so this should work for now.

The appearance of the damage/heal number is very ugly; how do I change it? I want them back like the original, like abigunov's said:

Played around with these files. It appears the follow is broken, and the skill useage is broken for now.

Damp Card Album art is no longer recolored correctly. Saw it looks like a regular card album in a shop.

Nothing else to report really so far.
