Win prizes by creating art for heRO!


Create an Event Banner for heRO server with your artistic creativity for prizes! The banners are to be used in the "Server News" post. The banner will be posted to announce quests or events related to particular holidays or updates. Make a banner for any of the following listed holidays or events. If you think of some other holiday/events that are not listed below, feel free to contact a GM to ask about it.

Please do not date any of the banners with 2022 and so on, with the exception of heRO birthday anniversary banners. Banners that are "dated" will be considered an invalid entry.

• Format: .png
• Size: 400 x 150
• Regular RO Border or heRO emblem not required.
• Do not mention any "year" in your banner unless it is an anniversary banner (e.g. don't put a year date to it)

Rules & Guidelines

• Deadline: March 5 at 23:59 (server time, EST GMT-5)
• GM-Pandora, GM-Aki, and GM-Ciar will be the 3 judges for this contest. Note that GMs' judging process is completely subjective.
• A player may submit as many entries as they want
• For each worthy* entry that a participant has submitted, the participant will receive the participation prize
• Participants can win only twice, even if they submit more than 2 entries.
• There will be anywhere between 3 to 6 winning entries, but this amount can change depending on the amount of participants at the end of the contest.
• Any entries submitted may be used for heRO server and its social media accounts, regardless if it wins or not.
• Please put all your entries in the same post (unless you reach the image limit, in which case put a link to your next post that contains entries), feel free to edit your post(s) until the deadline.
• If your image stretches the forum, please use thumbnails or links instead.
• Please mention your character names in your entry post so we know who to give rewards to.
• Your submitted art can have your name/artist signature on it, but please don't make it too big.
• Do not steal someone else's work. If using artwork or other material made by someone else please ask them / credit them in your post.
• Keep everything PG-13.
• Must be RO related (Avoid images from other games, anime, etc).
• More than 1 player may participate in the creation of an entry, however only 1 person may submit it and collect the participation/reward prize for it, that person is then responsible for prize distribution or any other deal agreed to by the players involved.
  

Rewards for Banner Contest


Participation Prize: For submitting at least 1 worthy* entry a player will be rewarded 1 Old Card Album, 1 "Costume Artisan Beret" and 3 Gold.


Winner's Prize

Each winning entry can get one of the following costumes, plus choose one of the winner's option down below. If you got 2 winning entries, you cannot select a costume/option package more than once.

All of the following costumes are "animated" in some fashion or moves slightly as you walk.

Option 1: 80 Rough Enriched Ore

Option 2: You receive all of the following chance items

• 5x Heroic Armor Chest

• 5x Old Card Album

Option 3: Trade a suitable item and it will be automatically enchanted with a normally permissible stat enchant of your choice at no cost, as if you are using one of the corresponding NPC enchanter (meaning all cards and upgrades are removed for armors if the armor normally gets enchanted via prontera/faeheim, but weapons will retain their refines/cards if it would normally go through Malangdo)

Option 4 (v2): Pick any card from a non-boss flagged monster in OCA and keep it
This prize option has been updated once since Jan 25

Option 5: Present an equipment. GM will decard some/all cards in that equipment for you, but any cards removed are destroyed. The equipment keeps any enchantment, refines, or cards that you opted to keep in the equipment.

Option 6: Pick 2 additional different costumes from the winner's reward list as costume prizes. These cannot be the same costumes as what you have selected as a reward (meaning, you will end up with 3 unique costumes)

Option 7: Pick 4 different *current* V4P headgears as your reward.

Questions
Ask and we shall answer!

• So how many prizes can one win?
  Answer: You will get the listed participation prize for each worthy* entry. Up to a max of 2 of your entries can win. For each winning entry, you can pick a winner's costume, and a choice pack.

• I'm not great at digital drawings, can I do them by hand?
  Answer: Yes, just make sure it's scanned properly (high resolution) and has a clean look (not blurry, grainy, etc).

• How do GMs judge entries?
  Answer: Each GM must individually pick what they feel are winning entries. Once the judging period is over, the entries that received the most votes wins. Keep in mind beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and thus every GM has their own criteria, likes, dislikes, etc.

• Are the rewards exclusive?
  Answer: No, there's no promise that anything will be exclusive. It is entirely possible that rewards here are suddenly obtainable ingame via a permanent method the very next day.

• Why are the rewards so bad compare to [insert whatever gameplay thing]?
  Answer: This one is exclusively banners, which are often regarded as "less work" than art contest in previous categories, such as card arts and definitely in loading screens. I am also not keen on giving out rewards that are effectively inaccessible ingame via just playing the game unless they serve no functional purposes. Therefore, most unique new things this time are costumes. No players should feel punished that they can never get gears as good as an artist, no matter how good they are in mechanical plays or how much effort they put in to grind in the server.

• Why are the rewards so good compare to [insert whatever gameplay thing]?
  Answer: I believe that for an artist to make a winning entry, an artist has to pour in an insane amount of effort for their artwork, not unlike ingame grinding/camping. They have to give up their free time which could've been spent farming or questing or doing whatever in-game. If the baseline of the reward does not even justify spending what could have been farming time, why would they participate? Also the artwork submitted will be used for server advertisement post purposes, which is also contributing to the server in their own ways as well. Think about how much it would've costed to commission these artists to draw for the server in cash, and perhaps that may convince you to see why art contests an attractive reward.

*To be considered worthy, an entry should look like at least 1 hour was spent on it. We reserve the right to refuse entries deemed too "cheap" (avoid stick figures and such).

By posting your entry, you agree to the following:

- Submitted entries can be used by the GM Team for the server in any way shape or form, in or outside the game (forum, RMS, HeRO's social media, etc).
- The GM Team reserves the right to adjust prizes at any time as they see fit for balance purposes.
- Any entry which is determined to be antagonistic to HeRO Server or its players will be disqualified. In-game or forum punishments may also apply.

Changed option 4 reward: getting a guaranteed 0.09% reward from OCA is deemed to be substantially better than getting a guaranteed 1% enchantment on enchanter, so I've nerfed option 4 so the statistics make a bit more sense.

I got my own ruling wrong, so ignore what I said in discord and follow the forum post instead:

"If you got 2 winning entries, you cannot select a costume/option package more than once."

Meaning, you cannot use 2 entries from the same person to pick the same option twice with your 2 entries. You cannot get 160 rough enriched ore via the contest on your own.
