Fishing is a custom activity on heRO. It allows you to do exactly what it sounds like - fish up some delicious fish that can heal both HP and SP depending on what you get.
- Note: Fish cannot be used in WoE or BG!
To start fishing, you need to have completed a short item collection quest and assembled a Wooden Fishing Rod. This fishing rod and baits (which you can buy from the Fishing Man NPC only at the beginner's spot) plus having completed the quest are required to go fishing.
Contents
Quest
To start the quest take the west exit from Prontera. Then go once more west using the northwestern exit. Go to the end of the southern-facing peninsula on the north part of the map.
The Fishing Man will ask you for some items to start teaching you fishing:
- 10 Fine-grained Trunks (Willow)
- 10 Solid Trunks (Willow)
- 20 Sticky Mucus (Many monsters including: Poporing, Hode, Orc Zombie, Zenorc)
After giving the Fishing Man the items, he will create a Wooden Fishing Rod for you and teach you how to fish. Pay attention to the order as he will ask you to repeat the steps afterwards.
After completing the fishing quest you can start fishing. The Basic Fishing Spot is in the water just below the Fishing Man. It's invisible, so try hovering your mouse near the beach until you find it. Every fishing attempt requires a bait, which you can buy from the Fishing Man.
You can buy bait in a few different quantities (some options are more economical than others):
- 1 for 250z
- 25 for 5000z
- 100 for 15,000z
- 1000 for 150,000z
The Fishing Man can also create three different fishing rods for you, if you collect the materials for him. Each rod corresponds to one of the fishing spots:
Wooden Fishing Rod - Basic Fishing Spot
- 10 Fine-grained Trunk (Willow)
- 10 Solid Trunk (Willow)
- 20 Sticky Mucus (Many monsters including: Poporing, Hode, Orc Zombie, Zenorc)
Bamboo Fishing Rod - Intermediate Fishing Spot
- 20 Tough Vine (Dryad)
- 20 Sticky Mucus (Many monsters including: Poporing, Hode, Orc Zombie, Zenorc)
- 20 Piece of Bamboo (Karakasa, Dumpling Child)
Metallic Fishing Rod - Advanced Fishing Spot
- 20 Tough Vine (Dryad)
- 20 Sticky Mucus (Many monsters, including: Poporing, Hode, Orc Zombie, Zenorc)
- 5 Iron Ore (Many monsters, including: Waste Stove, Metaling, Skeleton Worker, Andre, Steel Chonchon)
- 5 Rusty Screw (Metaling, Alicel, Aliot, Venatu, Teddy Bear)
- 5 Metal Fragment (Apocalypse, Vesper, Mining)
Fishing Points
Each time you cast your rod at a fishing spot, you have a chance of earning a fishing point. These points serve as a measure of your fishing skill and influence several factors of fishing.
- Location: The better fishing spots have a required number of points to fish at. Each spot also has a max amount of points you can earn before yielding 15 bait instead of further fishing points.
- Fishing Success Points influence what you can catch. Higher points means higher chance of catching anything and higher chance of it being a fish. The effect points have is detailed below in the Odds section.
- Fishing Gear: At 50 points, the fisherman will reward you with a Fish in Mouth.
- Quests: At 70 points, the Fishing Mastery Quest is accessible. With 75 points, the Kokomo Octopus Quest at the Intermediate spot can be started.
