Pepsi is giving away grant money to a cause that gets the most votes, and one of the ideas in the running is Kanzius Non-invasive R/F therapy, an alternative cancer treatment that looks very promising. Basically what it is, is injecting carbon or gold nanotubes into cancer cells, heating them with radio waves, and thus destroying the cancer cells and leaving the nearby healthy cells intact. Last I heard it was 100% successful when tested on liver cancer in rabbits. Hasn't entered human trials yet though.

It's currently ranked 3rd, but only the top 2 spots get the grant money. The ideas that are beating it are kinda selfish, to be honest. =/

Other ideas on top:

>"To rebuild our grade school that was destroyed in March of 2009."
>"Revitalize my neighborhood with a community center."
>"Screamfest Horror Film Festival launching directors & writers careers"

... 'Nuff said.

So anyway if you care about defeating cancer once and for all, please vote here:

You need to register, but I think you can use a fake email; On that note, vote as much as you can, because curing cancer is better than helping one town. D;
Registered and voted for!
Come on ppl Vote and let us know you CARE!!!
I registered and voted :o. My mom had breast cancer twice, so I know what its like for people who have it.. You got my vote man.

Btw. The other ones are DUMB.
I voted for the rebuild of the elementary school.??
It is more important imo.??
Cancer research already have gazillions of money + the "promising new cancer treatment" might end up failling.??Beside, its a lie. "Non-invasive". Since when injecting stuff into cell is non-invasive? Building a school is most likely to not fail.??

Kids need school.??
sorry but no no no...
developing countries need more money for basic sustenance and living support like shelter and basic medical aid.

Then we also need more money to actually provide people with proper jobs so that they can sustain themselves and live a fulfilling role in society.

Cancer costs too much compared to it's general usefulness for the betterment of mankind seeing how a little bit of properly placed and structured aid here and there can really go a long way and can really help a lot more ppl...

there are lots and lots and lots more options on what to do with money that would reach out, affect, and help more people/humanity in general...

but yeah, in the meanwhile i guess i can't hinder people from spending money on what they think is closest to them...

It's not the best cause in the world, I know. But surely it's a better use for the money than to spend it building a community center or a school, the tests so far have been successful.
Ok, one school. Or helping hundreds of thousands of people with cancer. You tell me what is better.
Silk Wrote:the tests so far have been successful.

All scientists that need research funds say that.??ALWAYS.??

1)??The 'cure' might probably fail. It was only tested on animals so far. Humans might not survive the stress/side-effects of the treatment.

2)??Even without the 1/4M from pepsi, if they are really "that close" of finding a cure, they will probably get the attention of the pharmaceutics company / Big corporations of medical instruments/ machinery.??There is a BIG money incentive for compagnies to invest in that research.??They will invest there because of the return on investment, that is sadly how our world works.??

3)??There are already multiple treatments for cancer.??That one is only one more in the pool of treatments.??That treatment may be suitable only for a small precise case of cancer.??

4)??They say the treatment is 'non-invasive' (lol, injecting toxic stuff into cells) , wich is a big flat lie wich anihilate their credibility as scientists.??

5)??The school is in an area that cause additional costs wich are not covered by the goverment budget.??Without that money, there won't be school.??A school won't get the money from private compagnies
Wow, I can't believe it but I'm with Krimlin on this one.

I was also thinking of that funding part. If that treatment was really that promising and successful, it wouldn't be on that fund waiting list. And that advertisement in general sounds like something that has been heard a thousand times before...
