To encourage you to kill them these monsters experience was trippled, as was their card drop chance!

Aw unfortunate that it's only exp and not drop rate as well... otherwise, succubus and orc archer would both be really abusable for OAB and fruits.

How often do these happen anyway? Once a month?

There isn't a set amount of time it changes in, probably roughly once a month though!
