Hi. I would like to suggest some changes to the ranked system in hero. I believe this is a necessary change to discuss, since this is a long living server and as such we face some side issues of the point system, which didn't age well.

Currently, most of the top ranked Blacksmiths, Alchemists and Taekwon seems to be inactive and they set a very high barrier to currently active players that want to reach top rank.

Although we praise the efforts of the old legendary blacksmiths, alchemists and taekwon, we should also acknowledge they where forged in the golden age of heRO. A time when player base was abundant and as consequence the demand for specialized players was high and also very rewarding. That's why it feel current active players have a unfair disadvantage trying to achieve high rank.

So it would be fair to give incentive to active players by decreasing ranked points of inactive accounts by 5% per month. A account would be considered inactive if not logged in the past month.

Could work something like: 1st day of the month check and decrease 5% of points from players that didn't log in the past month.

This change would incentive active players in a healthier ecosystem of ranked competition, while also incentive old ranked players to come back and play if they wish to keep the ranks. Its only natural to demand ranked players to be active.

I like this idea.

I think a couple people have already suggested that all ranked players should lose a fixed amount of points per month (regardless of active/inactivity). So, this is a better suggestion where only inactive players will lose points.

Perhaps, if technicalities are an issue, we could use a logging system similar to the nobility/vet rewards NPC you have to check in with every now and then, to remain active (could also include minor rewards for ranked players, but that's a separate topic). Unsure of other technicalities though, like actually reducing the points

Agreed with that it incentivizes new players to build something up, since it is a common problem older servers face, where new players feel like all 'resources have been used up'.
Thanks for the suggestion. There have been similar ones several times years ago and generally it hasn't gone anywhere. However, it has been under consideration by the T&D and GM teams for the past few years. Currently it is in the backburner due to the potential complex scriptwork involved and us having several big projects in the works, but we'll definitely be returning to this thread for future reference, so keep the discussions and suggestions coming~
