You could equip eggs (but they would have to be converted into equipable items first, so you could do that, pet would need to have default name) like pecopeco, garm - they would change your model (you sitting on pet) and would add extra speed and attack.
And for babies smaller pets could be ridden =P

It would keep me on this server, as i have never seen mounts on any serv..
And ther could be new pets - like desert wolf =P
wait for 3rd class i think ranger can mount a wolf
mounting of this nature would require a whole lot of work if it were to even be considered or implemented at all. there would need to be sprites for each of the mounting positions for every mount available, not to mention source code modification to allow for such a thing.
it's an interesting idea, but i highly doubt it would be implemented any time soon, if at all. there are quite a number of other "features" and necessities that the server needs sooner, like being up-to-date with all the episodes and other features that gravity has released quite some time ago.
edit: oh, forgot to mention, there are some rather interesting side features that are being worked on and hopefully soon to be implemented, just read the topic

While I love the idea of mountable creature, it would be very hard to implement, for the reasons Frog has listed.
Just the spriting to make a new stance on all views for each class is an enormous work of hundreds of drawings. I'm afraid we just don't have that kinda time available for now, maybe in the future someday.
Mounts are a swordsman bonus. And I think someone riding a poring or a baby garm would be asinine.
