Well as i have seen in many classes every time daddy goverment comes in the market to do something it screws it up instead of letting the amrket handle its own problems....now lets think of this...relate the goverment as our gms...and the market as umm...ya...ro market...what i mean is, there are many items that we have seen in ro that end up been a waste, no one likes them and you end up gaining like 10 zenny since no one needs or likes or antything, there is no reason for them.

Even tough as soon as they gain a use via update, event or new item requirements they gain a little more value...so i was thinking that in our case Daddy goverment ( gm staff) does make sometimes a good intervention by adding item requirements for some other items and stuff...but in the end we get our storages even more stuffed and we need another name to clasify us rather than just simple pack rats...

so what i mean with this thread is to know everyone`s opinions about the interaction of gm staff in the market, they have do given a valuable reason of existance to poring cards ( poring card sobbing and criying in gratefullnes ) but have also made other items lost their value like the Dexitremideas...or how ever they are spelled ( the ones dropped from hydras) they never gave a reall value after all, just for hair dying, but now that we have a cute stylist they are not needed any more ( personally i wouldnt mind them adding them as a pre requisit of new hair style change, way more easy to get than aloes )

so what do you guys think about our daddy goverment influencing our HeRo market?
Being a career pack rat, I think our market is fairly self propelled now, aside from the seasonal events driven by GMs. Besides, the item value of the seasonal events are seasonal, for example, prices for Legacy of Dragon have dropped extremely, and on the bright side we actually have a real price to tag on it, unlike before when nobody seemed to have it and nobody really knew what it cost.
Sure the GMs can add zeny sinks (Nobility) and seasonal quests and whatnot, but otherwise it's pretty much the players who drive the economy.

...and break it for that matter o_o;
I think they screwed up hard (especially mining and fishing) / (but some are very good like hatter cards), but that it is too late to go back. The best that can be done from now on is to make those interventions more balanced. And anyway, this is a custum server no? We can't expect to have custum quests without having them messing at least a little in the economy.
mining, fishing, thousands of gears that drop GB/taming/OBB/chocolates/others, bb/dbs which are near worthless now with so many crooked hats.

an economy is a hard thing to screw up, people will pay whatever something is worth to them. a good economy is one that has no unbalances and works in harmony. heRO isnt screwed up yet but is far from ideal.

i dont see how hatter card helped economy krim. giving value to poring card, etc, is like giving value to anything else that has no use. would you say legacy of dragon's sudden boost in price for that week a good change for economy?

rare to see a stable economy on any server with lower population anyway.
You see iro as the perfect economy. Thus, any change is bad and none can be good with this way of thinking. Your biased ?_?
Krim hit the crucial point. Change is change; it's inevitable. Roll with it, deal with it, exploit the crap out of it, or pull the covers over your head and pretend it isn't there. In the long run, does it matter whether an item that was worthless gains value, or one that was expensive loses it? In fact, the *actual* value of an item, determined by its capacity for creating wealth rather than moving it around, doesn't change. I can't think of a single time when Gravity or eAthena altered the NPC selling price of anything.

You can't avoid change. Whether or not the GMs create custom quests, there will still be a constant influx of new official quests, new monsters with new drops, and new cards from slightly less new monsters. We could just as easily hold this discussion about Gravity mucking with our economy. We can't go back to the way things were, and we can't selectively pick only those parts of SVN updates that won't "mess up the economy." We could decide not to go further with SVN, but it's pretty clear that wouldn't pass as a referandum.

In addition to uncontrollable external factors, we also have the concept that this is a free market. No, it's not "totally free" as my economics prof would say; we're not saturated with buyers and sellers to the point that any object is worth precisely the cost to produce. Because we lack that saturation, when a source appears, or dries up, the price changes. That doesn't mean it's an "unhealthy economy" it means it's a small market. This, in one significant way, can be a *good* thing. In a saturated market, nobody makes a profit. (barring, of course, the rare times someone comes up with a revolutionary process for reducing cost, that can't be mimicked or reverse-engineered) In a small market, a well-conceived start-up can thrive, and eventually grow into a significant power. HeRO has even enhanced those prospects with the hatter quest. Isn't that the dream of anyone joining a new server?

In the end, what really matters is your own personal enjoyment. Nobody plays here to pay his rent. Nobody is coerced against their will. What matters is, do you enjoy the quests the GMs have introduced? Do you think they're worth the upheaval and high costs when they're new, or the increased kafra clutter when they're established?

The poll question should read: "Do you like what the GMs have done to make heRO unique?" And if you answer 'no' then you have one question to ask yourself: "What am I doing here?"
I do like the concept of a socialist market economy (the government controls the market, like prices of products),??However,??In almost any economy the rich will have the advantage over poor, and there will be an almost infinite number of complaints from players and people might start leaving hero from being Jailed for?? incorrect prices every here and there.??

But it would give us??a spot where Price Check??wouldn't be found as evil as it is already, and with all the loots out there that can be vended,??that list??for the GM's to price is going to be PREEEETTTTY Long.

While I find Socialist Economic policies??favorable, We still have to consider??the capitalist economy??we have now. Such a transition shouldn't be made too abruptly or??people will simply pack their bags and leave.

And with hero,Like Krogoth said, I figure we just need more people on the server. People don't need Most of the Junk in Prontera. But??the more people there are,??the more likely??there'll be some poor sap who will pay??that 20k- 50k??for that wooden mail [1].

the amount of imbalances on official servers compared to hero? im biased for using official servers as a reference?

"Amount of imbalances"???If any change to the usefullness of an item is an imbalance, it implies that an official server is 100% balanced and that the more a server is customised with quests, or by anything else touching with items, it is going downhill in the % of balance.??

Not for using an official server as itself as a reference.??But by using it as the 100% balance reference, yes, you are.???_?
