Okay. TL;DR: New console, digital only, can run on TV, PC, and Mac, can play any game at uber-high quality and with no lag, and only requires that you have an internet connection. Has multiple functions including Friends list, ability to stream HD video, buy games through digital means, and many more...

Most notable is its ability to play any game at maximum detail, and does not require high-end computer hardware (early previews from IGN yesterday claim that they could play Crysis maxed out on a MacBook Air). You need some sort of little modem box and a monthly subscription, in addition to buying the games. It also works through TV if you use their mini-console.

The games themselves are run off hyper-advanced servers which have a completely new algorithm invented to compress the data so much that it barely causes any lag. (Note: These were the same people that invented the first Quicktime).

Honestly, if they pull it off right, it can change gaming forever. I just finished watching the press conference live and it looks like they've pretty much got a good deal of it under the belt.

Oh, and no piracy.

Concidering how backdated out internet is for one, I doubt Australia will get it anything soon.
If we can't be bothered upgrading net, why take the extra step?

I see what you did there Icon_suprised.

Back on topic, if they can fulfill the promises they made about having no lag and downloading a game within seconds; then I see it becoming very successful. I think the only problem it will have is that the economy isn't in the best shape right now, that and maybe its a little too ahead of its time.

We'll see in the coming months, I signed up for the beta, hopefully I get in! Icon_biggrin
hrm...monthly subscription >.>

If it weren't for that I'd think it was another Steam clone...

In my opinion, its both better than Steam and better-looking than Steam.

Also, Steam customer support sucks arse.
WTF where is the pride in buying a console now? This world is changing... >_>
That depends on the game, Pyronic. XD

FPS = suck on console.

RPGs generally handle better on them.

Obviously you've never played Oblivion for the PC. Ok
