Re-Balance BG

Just to put things into perspective I calculated how long it would take to farm certain BG gears at certain win/loss ratios.


At a 100% win/loss ratio you would average:
6pts. x 100% = 6pts. on average every BG

at a 75% win/loss ratio:
6pts. x 75% = 4.5pts. on average every BG

At a 50% win/loss ratio you would average:
6pts. x 50% = 3 points on average for every BG

and for lolz if your win/loss was 0% you average:
6pts. x 0% = 0pts. but you will always get 2pts. for losses any way so you would average 2pts. for every BG.


Now let's apply these averages against some BG gears.
For a Glorious Weapon the cost is 500 pts.

So at 100% win/loss ratio(6pts. each BG) it would take:
500pts/6pts = 83.33 or 84 BG battles

at 75%(4.5pts. each BG) it would take:
500pts/4.5pts = 111.11 or 112 BG battles

at 50%(3 pts. each BG) it would take:
500/3pts. = 166.66 or 167 BG battles

at 0%(2pts. each) it would take:
500/2pts = 250BG battles


Now, if we assume that you BG once every hour you can calculate how many days it would take to farm for a Glorious Weapon(500 pts.).

at 100% win/loss it would take:
84BG's/24 Hours in a day = 3.5 days

at 75% win/loss it would take:
112BG's/24 Hours in a day = 4.6 days

at 50% win/loss it would take:
167BG's/24 Hours in a day = 6.95 days

at 0% win/loss it would take:
250BG's/24 Hours in a day = 10.4 Days

*Now this is assuming you BG 24 hours a day once every hour non-stop. Of course no one is going to do this (although I've seen a few people try ^_^ ). I would say the average HeRO player plays about 3-5 hours a day and does about 5-7 BG's in that time depending on if there is any keying going on. So let's calculate more realistically at 6 BG's a day.

at a 100% win/loss it would take:
84BG's/6BG's a day = 14 Days

at 75% win/loss it would take:
112BG's/6BG's a day = 18.6 Days

at 50% win/loss it would take:
167BG's/6BG's a day = 27.83 Days

and at 0% win/loss it would take:
250BG's/6BG's a day = 41.66 days!!!

So realistically on average to farm 500 BG points it would take you about 2-3 weeks. This is not counting keys and stuff. But it's still pretty darn ridiculous IMO! I realize BG equipment are some of the best PVP gear in the game but having to sit at BG for weeks just to get one piece of gear is kind of tedious and retarded. It would take you months just to fully gear a character with BG gears or break a few BG weapons to make a??high refine BG weapon. Sitting at BG for about 15-20 minutes every hour is also tedious as it takes away from your time you could be doing other stuff. I've farmed stuff at BG before and after about the 10th straight BG battle I really just loose interest. It's no wonder people just go AFK at BG battles. It takes too long and it's a tedious wait game. Some of the BG items are not even worth farming for as there are better gears that can be acquired via monster drops.

Here are some suggestions I would make for BG:

1. Decrease Item costs slightly. Not by a whole lot but enough to where people actually have a chance to gear their characters or attempt to refine weapons without taking months to farm for.

2. Decrease BG time. 15-20 minutes out of each hour is a long time. Maybe decrease it to 5 minutes registration and prep time and 5 minutes battle time. Most battles that lasts longer than 5 minutes usually just turns into a "sitting draw" or a "chase after the Body Relocate Champ."

3. Have only a couple of BG events a day. Some MMO's I've seen will have about 2-4 big PVP events a day that are worth a good amount of points depending on how well you do. This would be a good idea to implement into BG since it would free up a lot more time for people to do other stuff like party or hunt instead of being slaved to sit at BG every hour.

100% win -> 600pts

75% win -> (75 * 6) + (25 * 2) -> 450 + 50 -> 500 pts
so at least u got 5 pts on average (assuming u lost all of those 25 fight, no tie)

50% win -> (50*6) + (50*2) -> 300 + 100 -> 400pts
4 pts average assuming no tie (tie worth 3 pts iirc)

soo 500pts should't take that long

100 battles still take you a few days to do. Even if you did around 8-10 battles a day and won 100% of the the time it would still take you 10-12 days. IMO, low-end BG gears(200 points+) should only take 3-4 days to farm and high end gear(500 points+) 4-6 for the casual gamer who plays 3-5 hours a day. I don't mind spending some time farming BG gears but as a non-hardcore casual player with IRL/work issues the idea of spending weeks just to farm one piece of BG gear is unappealing.

if you think farming BG gear takes too much time, try the alternative..
farm stuff like marc, raydric, green ferus, feather berret, dia boots, dia mant, variant, and so on..

i got a feeling it would takes longer to farm those stuff..

I think some of those are actually much easier to farm than BG gears with the right set-up or party. I used to farm 1-2+ Raydric cards a day with my GC Paladin playing about 3-5 hours. And you can get MVP drops quite easily once or more a day if you have a decent party. Harder to get cards and gears like Alice, AK and others maybe but the majority of them are easy to get.

Haha was wondering when CP would weigh in ^_^. I love you CP but 90 points a day with 100% win = 15 BG battles a day (you have no life).

*And Matinee says he loves you and wants to get together for coffee sometime.

and how long is it to get a decent geared paly to farm at raydric? and i dont see that much raydric card on market.. so i rly doubt it only takes 5 hours to get one card..

and i found it hard enough to find a decent player nowdays.. it took ages to form thor party.. i found a lot of DG party.. even i do find lot of fail people on ID.. not to mention a decent party for MVP..
