Gunslinger and Whitesmith Class Update

Please see the following threads for details:

3 free resets will be provided for free in Prontera to Blacksmith/Whitesmith and Gunslinger.

Please note: we reserve the right to reverse or adjust any skill customizations in hero. If a skill is changed such that it's nerfed in heRO, but still relatively buffed compare to vanilla RO, skill reset/item refund/item decard are not always provided.

Other Class Updates/Balances

Thief Class:

  • Steal is completely randomized again: the order of items on a monster no longer factors into which items you will steal

Alchemist Class

  • Twilight Alchemy 3 creates 50 alcohol instead of 100 alcohol. Its item requirement is modified to check for 50 alcohol instead of 100 as well. This should address the problem where Twilight Alchemy 3 provide too much alcohol yet forces players to farm for the materials of these excess Alcohol.
  • Lif's flee is lowered by 20 when Lif uses Mental Change. This should maintain the offensive power for Lif that many players enjoy, without Lif being too tanky via being a dodge tank due to the massive agi increase in heRO

Super Novice:

  • Both versions of the Super Novice chant is now supported

Dear angel, can you hear my voice? / Guardian Angel, can you hear my voice? ^^;
I am NAME SuperNovice~ / My name is NAME, and I'm a Super Novice~
Help me out~ Please~ T_T / Please help me T.T

Other Balance Changes

Movement speed is capped at the value of 50 for both players and monsters

This is meant as a PvM balance due to an upcoming monster skill change (see below)

For reference:

  • Normal player moves at speed 150
  • Agi Up lowers this value by 25
  • Speed Potion lowers this value by 50
  • Frenzy lowers this value by 25
  • Bio3/Bio4 MVP moves at speed 100 when they are not buffed

Other Item Changes

New Item: Past Anniversary Gear Box, which drops selective Anniversary Gears at equal chances. It drops gears that cannot be obtained year round via quest/existing monster drops (except Pandaring Backpack), in order to slowly get previously exclusive or time-gated gears into regular rotation and increase gear accessibility for all players. See this link and take a look!

Monster Changes

Monster Skill Update

NPC AGIUP is revamped.

  • Old effect: flee rate is doubled and movement speed increases by 50 for 6 seconds per level
  • New effect: movement speed increases by 100 (with a cap to movement speed 50) for 3 seconds per level.
  • New effect: can be dispelled by Slow Grace
  • Reason: double flee in PVM effectively makes certain monsters impossible to hit, or they can only be killed by Sniper. This unfairly forces all players to use flee ignoring skills only, which greatly limits the amount of classes that can serve as damage dealers. This change allows a lot of melee classes to have a chance at high end monsters/MVPs again. The burst of speed provided by this skill allows monsters to catch up to players to reduce the reliance on kiting or ranged attacks, encouraging melee combat (the movement speed doesn't matter if you are already tanking it and engaged with it). We hope that this will slightly close the gap in performance between most melee classes with the ranged classes.

NPC Attribute Change is revamped

  • Old effect: if a monster uses level 1 version of a skill that changes its element, it will take on a random elemental level (level 1 to level 4)
  • New effect: if a monster uses level 1 version of a skill that changes its element, it will take on level 1 of that element instead of being random.

Note: There is no change to level 2 to 4 as they already changed to the corresponding elemental level. This should remove randomize and allow players to plan their proper strategies around it

New Monster Skills

  • Wide Poison
  • Wide Lex Aeterna
  • Wide Deadly Poison
  • Wide Web
  • Wide Analysis
  • Wide Enervation
  • Wide Gloomy Day
  • Wide Ignorance
  • Wide Laziness
  • Wide Unlucky
  • Wide Weakness

As the name implies, AoE versions of these status effects may now be used by monsters in the future. Currently, no regular monsters use these skills, but do not be surprised when these skills are added retroactively to existing monsters. Likewise, these skills may become available via items in the future.

This is heRO's first time in creating custom skills, so we focused on "easy" skills that are straightforward and is just a status swap of some existing skills. Hopefully we can implement other type of skills in the future to introduce new things into the game.

Monster Skill Changes

The following monsters' skills are changed as a result of NPC_AGIUP change. Their level of NPC_AGIUP cast is lowered from their original level to 1 (3 seconds long of a huge movement speed up):

  • Cecil Damon
  • Deviruchiring
  • Eremes Guile
  • Fulbuk
  • Thanatos Desperos

All MVPs with NPC_AGIUP is lowered from their original level to 2 (6 seconds long of a huge movement speed up)

The following monsters have their skills modified as a result of Gunslinger skill change:

  • Nidhoggur's Shadow: Desperado lv 5 => lv 4
  • Trentini: Piercing Shot lv 5 => lv 4
  • Hollow Poring: Desperado lv 8 => lv 7, Spread Attack lv 8 => lv 7
  • Big Ben: Desperado lv 7 => lv 6, Tracking lv 9 => lv 8, Gatling Fever lv 10 => lv 8
  • Jora: Desperado lv 10 => lv 9, Rapid Shower lv 10 => lv 9 (no change to other skills)
  • Lutia Outlaw: Desperado lv 5 => lv 4, Ground Drift lv 10 => lv 5, Spread Attack lv 6 => lv 4

Note: By virtue of having no changes, Whispers of Surtur got a buff and is stronger since its Gunslinger skills are buffed.

Monster Drop Changes

The goal of monster drop changes this time is to increase the value of party play where a party is required. In heRO, traditionally on non-bosses, we set the drop rate of gears from 0.3% to 0.45% as the standard drop rate, sometimes going up to 0.6% to 1.5% if there is a harder/rarer source of the same item. However, in party scenarios, these numbers do not make sense as after party share, you effectively divide the drop rate by the number of people in the party. This makes it so that party play in higher end dungeons does not have a sense of opportunity loss compare to soloing. Therefore, we are increasing the drop rates of equipment gears from party-oriented locations. This change does not apply to most mini-boss loots and never applies to MVP loots which already account for party size in heRO, or monster cards.

If you think that these are actually solo locations and does not warrant drop rate increase, then good on you. Go take advantage of it then.

Another change we want is to increase the number of sources to hunt "etc items that are required in bulk for brewing". Right now, even if you have the gears/skills/levels, you are stuck farming the same weak locations for these items constantly. Harder monsters may drop items like herbs at 100% but it's not worth the effort or difficulty. We want to at least close this gap so players feel less demotivated to fight tougher monsters or challenge higher end dungeons while still getting some crucial resources that are needed in bulk, such as brewing/crafting gears, Eluniums or Oridecons. We chose some monsters as a benchmark, though factors such as popularity of a leveling spot also influences the final decision. You shouldn't have to leave to fight tons of weak monsters to hunt common items nearly as often anymore.

We will apply this change to white herbs and blue herbs first as a test run, and if there's no main balance issues with it, then we'll apply it to Steel, Eluinum and Oridecon as well.

To give us more flexibility, we have created the following "Box" items to drop more than 1 etc item from a monster as needed, or be given out in events:

  • Small Blue Herb Box (3)
  • Large Blue Herb Box (5)
  • Heroic Blue Herb Box (15)
  • Small White Herb Box (3)
  • Large White Herb Box (5)
  • Heroic White Herb Box (15)

Official Benchmarks and Guidelines chosen as the standard for drop rate adjustments (excluding MVPs):

  • Blue Herb: Nightmare at 15% and Mavka at 90%
  • White Herb: Ghoul at 21% and Blazer at 90%
  • Steel: Pitman at 15% and Apocalypse at 90%
  • Witched Starsand: Bathory at 100%
  • Oridecon: Nightmare at 1.8% and Abysmal Knight at 7.77%
  • Elunium: Raydric at 3.18% and Abysmal Knight at 11.07%

Monsters receiving drop rate boost as a result of this directive:

  • Angeling: White Herb 60% => Large White Herb Box 60%
  • Azure Deleter: Blue Herb 1.5% => 90%
  • Blightmare: Blue herb 4.5% => 90%, Blue Potion 1.5% => 6%
  • Blue Acidus: Blue Herb 4.5% => 100%, Blue Potion 4.5% => Blue Herb 60%
  • Chill Wind: Blue Herb 3% => 15%
  • Clock: White Herb 57% => 90%
  • Dark Illusion: White Herb 45% => Heroic White Herb Box 45%
  • Draco Egg: White Herb 100% => Large White Herb Box 75%
  • Evil Druid: White Herb 60% => Small White Herb Box 60%
  • Fallen Druid: White Herb 75% => Large White Herb Box 60%
  • Garden Watcher: White Herb 100% => Small White Herb Box 90%, Blue Herb 30% => Small Blue Herb Box 45%
  • Killer Mantis: White Herb 7.5% => Small White Herb Box 60%
  • Majoruros: White Herb 55% => Large White Herb Box 60%
  • Marc: White Herb 21% => 30%
  • Masterpoporing: Green Herb 30% => Large White Herb Box 60%
  • Mastersnowring: White Herb 100% => Large White Herb Box 60%
  • Nightmare Terror: Blue herb 4.5% => 90%, Blue Potion 1.5% => Blue Herb 30%
  • Heidrun: Blue Herb 30% => 60%
  • Khalitzburg: White Herb 60% => Small White Herb Box 45%
  • Lava Golem: White Herb 75% => Small White Herb Box 75%
  • Orc Archer: White Herb 27% => 75%
  • Phendark: White Herb 54% => Large White Herb Box 54%
  • Pouring: Blue Herb 100% => Small Blue Herb Box 100%
  • Rybio: White Herb 54% => Small White Herb Box 54%
  • Silver Filir: White Herb 100% => Small White Herb Box 75%
  • Snow Harpy: White Herb 30% => Large White Herb Box 15%
  • Snowier: Blue Herb 1.5% => 60%, White Herb 15% => Small White Herb Box 75%
  • Spring Rabbit: Yellow Herb 24% => 100%, White Herb 24% => 90%, Blue Herb 6% => 21%
  • Verdant Deleter: White Herb 75% => Small White Herb Box 75%
  • Zherlthsh: White Herb 56% => Heroic White Herb Box 56%

Note: it has been suggested to GMs by T&D to make Witched Starsand Box to increase the number of sources for this greatly sought after etc item at higher difficulty monsters, since its gold standard source of Bathory already drops the item at 100%. This is a great player suggestion and it's an oversight why we didn't do this sooner. We'll implement this on the next patch if we continue with this change.

Finally, Bio3 and Bio4 in heRO always had the Biolab Item Exchange as a way to stabilize the RNG factor of biolab drops, such that if you kill 150 of them, you will get something from the dungeon. This created an innovative steal oriented strategy to farm these items. We don't want to punish innovation, but there's no reason to kill the mobs like normal either due to the difference in efficiency. To once again close the gap a bit, we're making so the Bio3 and Bio4 mobs drop 2 of their special etc items (Warrior's Will and Blood Thirst) at 90% rate so that there's more reward for fighting them again over stealing.

Other Changes:

Kushiel: item drops revamped, considering it's in a location/difficulty that requires 4 people minimum

  • MVP Drop- Bradium 100% => Large Elunium Box (5 elunium)
  • MVP Drop- Magic Defense Potion Box => Large Oridecon Box (5 oridecon)
  • MVP Drop- Yggdrasil Berry => Large Yggdrasil Berry Box (5 yggdrasil berry)

Note: Warzone mobs are not accounted for adjustment as they require a total revamp "some day"

Qualify of Life Improvements

  • All songs have buff icons, except for Poem of Bragi, Loki's Veil, Mr Kim a Rich Man and Into the Abyss (technical limitation; we'll try again next update cycle)
  • Gunslinger buffs also have new buff icons
  • Elemental resist potions now have buff icons
  • Warper unlock is now account wide. Once a warp is unlocked on one character, it will be available across all characters in the account, including future characters.

Note: this warper change is retroactive, but for this to apply to existing characters, you have to talk to the warper and see the town list and the dungeon list with the character who has the most unlocks available on your account. Every time you do this, the NPC will recognize your existing unlocks and apply it for every other character. If this is not working, please contact GM-Ayu.

We will slowly make some character-wide only changes to be account wide, but this will not happen overnight as there are a lot to convert. However, the future goal is that unlocks, points and systems should be applied account wide as much as possible going forward.

Bugfixes

  • Skills that use Spirit Spheres will properly fail if the Monk lost the required number of Spirit Spheres by the end of its cast time
  • Fixed a specific interaction where Eddga card nullifies Concentration for Lord Knights
  • Plagiarism NPC no longer sells Thief/Rogue skills to fix a bug
  • Opened Coconut is sold by the Brasilis NPC again
  • Margaretha Solin card is added to OCA and DCA (we didn't realize this card is not in the official OCA list; it is fully intended for this card to be in OCA and DCA)
  • Auger Driver is now displayed properly when it is unidentified
  • Auger Driver properly has 2 slots now
  • Randel card has its card suffix corrected
  • Alberta NPC Tool shop sells Monocle[0] (it was removed from Prontera shop to make space in an older update)
  • Alberta NPC Armor shop sells Sunglasses[0] (it was removed from Prontera shop to make space in an older update)
  • Tasty White Ration is swapped to Oriental Pastry: so that magic buff food has the same duration as its physical counterpart. There was no reason for magic users to have a shorter buff duration on its consumable. You can now consume Tasty White Rations and it'll automatically convert them into Oriental Pastries.
